For many Christians, we have read the scripture in 1 Corintihians 11:29 “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep”. Because of this verse in the bible, many of us believe that if we have sins in our us, we should not partake the Lord’s supper. I recalled when I was a child, my brother-in-law told me that sometimes he chose not to take the Lord’s supper because he felt’s he’s so sinful and lest he drank judgement to himself.
However, in this book, Health And Wholeness Through The Holy Communion, Pastor Prince unveil a truth that actually sets sinners free. He explained that that traditional way of interpreting the verse in 1 Corinthians 11:29 is actually completely wrong. In this book, he explained that drinking in an ‘unworthy manner’ is referring to when we drink with the acknowledgement that the blood of Christ has been shed to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. The Blood of Jesus is for the forgiveness of our sins. So if we felt we are sinful, then all the more we need the Blood of Jesus to cleanse us. The bread is our Lord’s Body broken for us and is therefore for the healing of our bodies. To partake the Lord’s supper in a ‘worthy manner’ is to discern that Blood of Christ has been shed to forgive us of our sins and the Bread is for us to be healed of diseases. To partake in an ‘unworthy manner’ is when we do not discern these elements and took the Lord’s supper for the purpose of filling their hunger.
In this book, Pastor Prince shared many real life testimonies of healing with the Holy Communion, inclusive of a powerful testimony of how a sixteen month old baby was healed of acute liver failure. Friends, this is a book I strongly recommend you to read if you are looking for healing.
