Deuteronomy 28:10-13 New Living Translation
10 Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you.
11 “The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. 12 The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.13 If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.
Promises of Prosperity
In this scripture, the LORD promises that He will open up the heavens for us. Yes, open to us! Treasure from heaven? It means prosperity in both quantity and quality. It means unlimited blessings, it means as much as we would like to have. In fact, the LORD promises that His blessings is beyond what we can imagine or ask for (Ephesians 3:20).
In this same scripture, the LORD also promises that He will bless ALL the works of our hands. This means success in everything we do.
Also in this same scripture, the LORD promises that we shall lend but will NEVER need to borrow. It means dignity.
It is prosperity coupled with fulfilment and satisfaction. That is what this scripture promises.
Not for you? Too Good to be True?
Friends, do you feel that this is too good to be true? Are you finding it difficult to believe, especially when you are in a difficult situation, when you feel discouraged, when you feel that it will take you ages before you can achieve what you set out to do, when you are not even sure if you will ever succeed, especially after you have failed several times. Do you feel that these promises may not apply to you because you are sinful?
Friends, remember Galatians 3:29? That when we believe in Christ Jesus, we belong to Jesus. We become the true descendants of Abraham and whatever promises of blessings belong to Abraham? All it takes is believe in Jesus. Faith. So all the blessings in Deuteronomy 28 that were given to Abraham’s descendants belong to us, believers of Christ. It is for us to believe and claim.
Remember that because of the finished work of Christ on the cross, we are eternally the righteousness of God in Christ. So all these blessings belong to us because of the finished work of Christ. It is good, very good, too good but it is true. These promises are for us to claim as believers of Christ Jesus.
Why not share this promise with someone now:
If you have not become a believer, all it takes is a simple prayer of faith:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Lord, I receive you right now as my Lord and Saviour of my life.Thank you that your blood was shed to cleanse me so that I become eternally the righteousness of God. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
