David knew that God is good and in Psalm 23:6, he confidently declare that “Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life..” It was his knowledge of God that gave him the courage to take up the challenge to fight Goliath. David knew that it was God who bless him with talents and sets him on high places (Psalm 18:33).
Friends, do you know that God plans for you is also to set you on high places? Think of all the man of God in the bible — Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, Daniel, Gideon and many others. All these men were leaders. Do you know that many of these men made big mistakes in their life? Abraham lied again and again, endangering his wife. Moses was a murderer. David was both an adulterer and a murderer. They made mistakes but they never depart from God. They had intimate relationship with God.
It is God’s desire that we have an intimate walk with Him. It is also God’s will that we are set on high places. Read Genesis Chapter 1, verse 26 and 28, the word dominance is repeated in these two verses. When you read the bible, you will notice that when something is very important, God will repeat it, at least twice. In just the first chapter, it was mentioned twice that God made man to have dominance over everything on earth. Yes, we are made to be the head and not the tail. If you read Genesis Chapter 1, you can see how God got everything ready before he made human beings. We are destined to reigned! Do you know? We are born to lead! The bible did not say that Adam and Eve had to work hard to win the support of the animals and gain dominance over them. No! God did all the work. God planned for Adam to be the leader. Everything was prepared for Adam.
If you think that only some people, e.g. King David, were destined to receive special favour, that is not true. God’s will is to set us on high places. There is no ‘insufficiencies’ with God’s vacancies. The only condition is to walk intimately with God. Jesus said “..But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you…”(Matthew 6:33) and “…I am the vine and you are thebranches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing“...(John 15:5). If you are skeptical, why not give it a try? Read the bible, talk to God everyday…you will be surprised God talks to you too… for He is a Living God (Jeremiah 10:10).
