During my campus day, a brother in christ shared with me this:
Our LORD Jesus had taught us in his words to Martha:
…41But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
This was the best knowledge shared with me. Over the next three decades, through many things that happened in my life, I have tasted this truth that in life, only one thing is necessary:
When we read the story of Abram in Genesis 11:27 – 13:4, we can see all the weaknesses and fears of Abram that led him to lie to Pharaoh that his wife, Sarai was his sister. Yet our gracious LORD protected Sarai, Abram and his entire family. We read in Genesis 13:4 that after leaving Egypt, Abram called on the name of the LORD. I believe Abram must have realised how the LORD had protected him.
As humans, we are weak. We have many fears. We have many worries. We make mistakes. However, rest assured that our LORD’s protection is always upon His people.
In Psalm 91:1, the following promise is given to us:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.Psalm 91:1 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Friends, in life, we will face a lot of difficulties. However when we turn to our LORD Jesus, when we call on His name, He promised that we will be safe, we will abide in the shadow of our God Almighty. We can have success and blessings when we walk intimately with our LORD.
