Exodus 15:22-27

22 Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.* 24 The people murmured against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 Then he cried to the LORD. The LORD showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them. 26 He said, “If you will diligently listen to the LORD your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am the LORD who heals you.”
27 They came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water, and seventy palm trees. They encamped there by the waters.

Are You Angry With God?

Do You Know That The Key to Overcome Your Problem is to Believe that God loves You?
Sometimes, life can be very very painful. Particularly when the things we needed most or wanted most are lacking.

When the children of Israel reached Marah and saw water, the water was bitter. Very often, this happens in our lives. Even our last hope can be smashed. That’s when we often become devastated. We read in this story how the children of Israel became angry because all that their human mind could think of at that moment was that they and their children are going to die. Though God was with them leading them each day by the pillar of cloud and each night by the fire, the children of Israel could not feel God.

In the above story of the bitter water at Marah, all that Moses did was to cry out to God. Instead of turning to someone and complain, He turned to God:

So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink….

” Exodus 15:25 (New Living Translation)

Why did Moses cry to God? Simply because he believed that God loves the children of Israel and will provide for them.

Friends, FAITH is the key to unlocking the power and provision of God, to overcome the difficulties you are facing. Prayer is all that you need. A simple prayer, a little faith, as small as a mustard seed, is all that is needed.

God loves you. He will help you. When you pray to Him, He will definitely answer you.

Are You Wondering?

Why Don't God Just Provide The Sweet Water Without Moses Having To Cry To Him?
If you are like me, you may be wondering why didn’t God simply make the water in Marah not bitter? Since God is almighty, since He loves the children of Israel and it is definitely His will to provide for them, why must the water in Marah be first bitter and Moses had to cry to the LORD before the LORD showed him the wood to throw into the water to make it sweet?

I asked the LORD why? To test the children of Israel of their faith? Why? Some of us may even have this thought that God just simply want to humble us and make us having to cry to Him—it may even upset us to think of this. Some preacher even taught that that is the way God works. However, deep in my Spirit, I know this cannot be true. I have walked with God for almost 40 years. This is not the character of God. This is not what I have known of God. Our God, our LORD, would often let us blame Him, got angry with Him, when in reality, He works all things for good, even in ways we cannot see.

We read in Genesis on the account of creation, on how God made everything before He made man so that when Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden, all the plants and water were there for Adam as food. Before our LORD made Eve, He made Adam first so that when Eve came into this world, there was already a man waiting to love her. In the bible, in Revelation, chapter 21-22, it describes the New Heaven and New Earth that God is now preparing for us. In Revelation 22:2, it is stated that there will be trees of twelve fruits for healing of nations. Our God has everything planned for us even before we know how to ask for it. Jesus said our Heaven Father knows our needs even before we ask Him. He provides for us even when we do not know how to ask or imagine. This is the true character of God.

So I asked the LORD why? The LORD impressed upon me that we are in a fallen world. Even when Jesus walked on earth and when He fed the five thousands, He had to ask of our Heavenly Father. In a fallen world, the devil is at work. When Jesus walked on earth, the devil plotted for Jesus to be accused and crucified. Hence, I believe that during the time when the LORD led the children of Israel to journey from the Red Sea to Marah, the devil was at worked too, planning to destroy the children of Israel, making the water not drinkable. It was a spiritual battle. It is precisely for this reason that we FAITH is the key for us to overcome our difficulties.
