Get to know God
The faithfulness of God
Sarah and Abram had waited 10 years since the LORD gave the promise to Abram that God will make him a great nation (Genesis 12:2), will give the land of Canaan to his descendants (Genesis 13:15) and he will have an heir from his own body (Genesis 15:4). After 10 years, the promises of God did not seem to happen.
Sarah, seeing that she had passed her child bearing years, came up with the solution to have children through her servant, Hagar. Notice that Sarah said “the LORD has restrained me from bearing”. Effectively, she felt that the LORD was against her. She had lost her faith to believe that the LORD loved her and would fulfill His promises to Abram through her. Notice also, that Abram did not object. Neither did he seek the LORD about it. Their faith had been weakened with the deferred hope (Proverbs 13:12).
Despite this weakened faith and the mess they created, the LORD was gracious and faithful because of Abram (Genesis 21:12). Despite Abram’s mistakes, the LORD stepped in. Hagar was pregnant and the LORD knew that she and her young child would need a proper home to survive. The LORD came to Hagar to give her hope, to comfort her and to advise her what is the right thing to do.
Faith is all that the LORD wants from us
Faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). God loves us with a perfect love, that is a truth. So faith is believing that God loves us and desires to bless us, regardless of the circumstances. Faith is calling on the name of God, bringing to Him our petitions and believing that He will not withhold any good thing from us who believe and seek Him.
Human beings are not called to help God to fulfill His promises
In life, very often, we use our human wisdom and logic to find solutions and even use our human effort to fulfill God’s promises. The end result can sometimes be very messy or disastrous.
We must always believe that God loves us. If we ponder over the hidden love letter in Genesis 1 and ponder over the perfect love that God has for us, that drives Him to intricately planned and created everything for mankind, we will understand that God will not withhold any good thing from us (Psalms 84:11).
We must pray to ask God to direct us and give us the wisdom to recognise what is to be solved within our human effort and what is beyond us and we simply need to trust in the LORD.

How to become a believer?
You can be a believer simply by saying this prayer:
Dear God, thank you for so wonderfully make me and thank you for sending your Son, LORD Jesus to die for me so that I can have the blessed life that you intended for me — a life of leadership and fruitfulness. Now I believe and accept Jesus as my LORD and Saviour. I believe that from this time forth, I am a new creation, I am born again and I have the eternal life that Jesus came to give me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
