5 They both dreamt a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison. 6Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.

Genesis 40

Genesis 40

World English Bible (WEBPB)

14But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house. 15 For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.”

Genesis 40

World English Bible (WEBPB)

Get to know God

God gave the interpretation

In this story, we learn from Joseph that interpretation of dreams come from God. Joseph believed that if the Pharaoh’s servants were to tell him the dreams, God will give him the interpretation of those dreams. We can also deduce from Genesis 40:8 that Joseph had a close relationship with God. He does not trust that he had a natural talent to interpret dreams. Rather, he trusted that God will give the interpretation through him.

When we pray and communicate with God, when we read His words and believe, when we worship and call on His name, when we believe and put our hopes in God, we are walking with God. If you do that, you will discover that God will put in your mind and heart, the secrets of God. You will know that message is from God because Jesus said “My sheep hear My voice….” (John 10:27-28).

God will never fail you when you put your hopes in Him

Put your hopes in God, not in man. In this story, the cup-bearer servant forgot about Joseph. It must have been very disappointing. Joseph must have felt crushed, seeing that even that last hope was gone– the cupbearer did not help him. As he waited day after day, it must have been very painful.

My child, put your hopes in God. He will never fail you. The wait can be difficult. So, when you wait, turn your eyes to our LORD. Do not allow your mind to be in the waiting mode. Instead, believe that our LORD has His perfect timing. In the meantime, try to make the most of each day that the LORD gives to you.

Are you wondering…

How to become a believer?

You can be a believer simply by saying this prayer:

Dear God, thank you for so wonderfully make me and thank you for sending your Son, LORD Jesus to die for me so that I can have the blessed life that you intended for me — a life of leadership and fruitfulness. Now I believe and accept Jesus as my LORD and Saviour. I believe that from this time forth, I am a new creation, I am born again and I have the eternal life that Jesus came to give me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
