The good news that Jesus brought to the world

Many Christians thought that the good news that the gospel brings is that Jesus save us from burning in hell, that we will go to heaven after we die (John 11:25). As for this life, because we are still having a mortal body living in a fallen world, we will have to bear with and find our own solutions to overcome our problems.. Actually this is a wrong thinking.

As we read this scripture in Matthew 4:12-25 we see that Jesus went about healing  every disease and every sickness (Matthew 12:23) the moment He began His ministry. This tells us that sickness and diseases are not God’s will for us. In fact, it is top in God’s priority for us to be healed because Jesus began His healing the moment He began His ministry and the bulk of His miracles were mainly on healing. Through Jesus, we see the compassion that God has for us and it is His desire to see us healthy. Jesus said in Luke 4:18-19 that He came to heal the broken hearted and set free those who lives under the shadow of death (Isaiah 9:2, 61:1).

In other words, the good news that the gospel brings to us is that God not only want us to live forever, He wants us to be healthy and live a rich and satisfying life forever, starting from the moment we believe, i.e our lives on earth (John 10:10). It is for this reason that through Jesus, as believers, we have received the Spirit of God that will guide us into all truths and will give life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11).

Love letter from GodThe love of God unveiled through Jesus Christ

Jesus came not to judge the world. He came to save the world (John 12:47). He came to reveal to us the unfailing love in God, the heart of God our heavenly Father (John 1:18). My child, I pray that as you read through all that Jesus did on earth, from healing all the sick and demon possessed to choosing to be crucified and laying down His life for us, you can see that this is the love that God has for you. He loves you even when you make mistakes in life.It is all because God, our heavenly Father loves us, that Jesus came to die in our place (Romans 8:5)

QUESTIONS RELATED TO THIS READING

1. What makes Peter, Andrew, James and John follow Jesus immediately?

As we read Matthew 4:18 -22, it appeared as if Peter, Andrew, James and John simply lost their senses and would give up everything to follow a stranger.  Actually, that is not the case. They did not lose their senses. They heard John the Baptist (John 1:32-39, 1:40-42)) , they saw Jesus performing miracles (Luke 5:1-11) , they believed that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God.

Remember

When God Calls you

My child, Jesus has cautioned us that there will be many false prophets in the end times (Matthew 7:15-20) and we are to identify them by their fruits.

If God calls you to serve Him full time, God will show it to you directly, may show you supernaturally (through His words, visions, miracles, circumstances, prophesies) and He will certainly give you the desire, equip you, and provide for you, all the way.

If you are very sure you are called into a ministry, obey and let the promise that Jesus has given us (Matthew 19:29) strengthen you. Be sure to seek the LORD’s guidance in every step as you serve (John 5:19).

Promise

Jesus spoke these promises when He began His ministry.

Promise

Jesus spoke these words when He began His ministry.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Luke 4:18-19

It is for these purposes that Jesus came. He spoke these words and you can take Jesus for His words. If you need a healing, claim these promises and believe that you will be healed and set free from whatever that is tormenting you.

Do you want to receive Jesus into your life?

Jesus is God’s gift to you. When you believe in Jesus, you are saved, crossing from death to life (John 5:24, 6:54). You cannot achieve this salvation through any amount of good works because human effort can never meet the perfect standards of God (John 6:63). Only the grace of God can grant you this salvation and you can receive it only by believing in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9). By the blood of Jesus, all your sins (past, present and future) are forgiven and the Holy Spirit of God that gives eternal life (John 6:63) can live in you forever (John 14:16). All it takes is to believe and say a simple prayer like this:

“Dear LORD Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and that Your love for me has driven You to leave Your throne in heaven to come to this world to die in my place so that I can be forgiven. Thank you that You suffered and died for me. I pray that You come into my life to be my Savior. Thank you that your blood has cleansed me from all my sins and I am forgiven even as I say this prayer. I believe and declare that from this moment onwards, , I am a new creation, I am a child of God, I am forgiven, I have a new life, an eternal life. I pray that You fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can lead the victorious life that You came to give me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

If you have said the above prayer, you are saved. You have eternal life. You are a Christian, a new creation. Old things have passed away. God is doing a new thing in your life. Start walking with Jesus (pray to Him, read the bible, believe His promises) and you are going to experience breakthroughs and miracles. Look for a church that is based on the Word of God (the Bible), that believes in the power and miracles of God and that teaches the unfailing love and grace of God.
