In this scripture, the ultimate objective of the LORD’s trip is to go to Sodom and Gomorrah to assess if He should destroy the cities. However, the LORD chose to drop by and visit Abraham first, to reveal to Abraham what He was about to do. This is how awesome our LORD is. He is God Almightly, yet He is a friend to those who fear Him (Psalms 25:14). Here’s two other translation of this verse:

• The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. (Psalms 25:14, NIV)
• The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. (Psalms 25:14, ESV)
• The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant. (Psalms 25:14, NKJV)

Throughout the entire bible, the LORD revealed to His prophets the things to come — in the book of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiah, Revelation and many others. The apostle Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 2:10-12 that no one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit. Hence,  no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. As believers of Jesus, we have received God’s Spirit and His Spirit will give us understanding of the wonderful things of God. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:16:

For,

“Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
    Who knows enough to teach him?”

But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16).
