Get to know God

A God of compassion and justice

There are many hidden treasures in bible scriptures. Only the Holy Spirit of God can reveal these truths. Instead of reading this story like an interesting children story about animals and amazing things that happened in ancient times, let me highlight the following truths:

1. God protects His people from distasters

It is very clear that God protected Noah and his entire family. However, do you know that God protected Noah’s father and grandfather and great grandfather, all the way back to Adam? If we count from the time Adam was created to the time of the flood in Noah’s time, it was 1656 years. Duoring this period, God ensured that all the ancestors of Noah has lived their lives to a ripe old age of around 900++ years and died before He sent the great Flood. Click here to look at the timeline.

2. God blesses our children greatly

In this story we read about God protecting Noah’s children. One chapter before this story, in Genesis 5:21-23, scripture stated that the great grandfather of Noah was Enoch who enjoyed a close relationship with God and was taken away by God. His son, Methuselah was the longest living man in history, he lived 969 years until the year of the Flood. Look at how God protects the children of those people who walks with Him! Click here to see the bar chat. So, if you are a parent always worrying about your children, fret not. Trust and rest in God. Walk with Him and believe that our God will never fail us. Our children are protected and blessed.

3. It was an extremely painful decision for God to send the Flood.

In Genesis 6:4, we read about the Nephilim were born when God’s sons *fallen angels” had intercourse with human women. In this article the author explained the that the demons were attempting to pollute the human bloodline in order to prevent the coming of the Messiah. God had to make this very tough decision to send the Flood. It pains God so much that He sworn never again to send the Flood to destroy mankind.

4. There is a time for everything

When God created the earth and mankind, He gave human the free will. Sometimes, we have so much freedom that it does not seem that judgement will come.

This is not true. There is a set time for everything. Unless we are in Jesus, we have no protection.

Do not be discouraged when we have to wait. Sometimes, as believers, we find ourselves in situation where we are confined and bored. That may just be a time of protection. God has the entire timeline in His hands, He knows everything. It takes time for the water to subside, but the time will come when Noah and his families and the animals could leave the ship.

5. Obedience to God's words is FAITH & WISDOM

Before the Flood, there was no rain. Genesis 2:6 describes that a midst come out of the ground to water the land. So during Noah’s time, no one understand what is rain. Yet when God told Noah to build the ship, Noah did everything according to God’s words. Genesis 6:22 and Genesis 7:5, it was stated that Noah did everything that the LORD commanded him.

Obedience to God’s words (not people’s words) is a demonstration of our FAITH in God.  Jesus said in John 14:23 that all who love Him will do what He say and our Heavenly Father will love us and God, the Father and Jesus the Son, will come to us and live with us. The Holy Spirit of God that lives in us will help us discern between God’s words and people’s words.

Did you notice…

Noah had his children when he was 500 years old

All of us have read that Abraham waited till he was 100 years old. However, do you know that there was someone who waited longer than Abraham? It’s Noah. In Genesis 11:10, we read that Noah’s son, Shem was 100 years old when his son Arphaxad was born and that happened two years after the Flood. This implies that Shem was born when Noah was 500 years old. Click on this article where the author wrote a detailed deduction of the age of Noah when his sons were born.

Noah was the first man called for a mission though he was old

Although Adam was assigned the responsibility to name the animals, we can consider this as a daily duties, just like we have to attend school everyday. That is different from being selected for a National event or given an important project to accomplish.

So the first person in the bible whom God chose to accomplish a mission was Noah. Yet, Noah was a very old man. He was 500 years old when God told him about the great Flood.

If you are a grandparent reading this, I believe God is telling you that your best days are not over. Your best days are ahead of you when you have Him in your life.

People's heart can be so hard even when they see miracles

When the animals and the birds and all that creeps on the ground obediently went into the boat, two by two, male and female, is that not a great miracle?

At least those who were employed to build the boat would have noticed that. Yet, why were there no one who would ask to go into the boat? They saw such great miracles but their hearts were hardened. That was not the first time in human history.

During Moses days, the Pharoah saw the miracles that Moses performed and even witnessed the opening of the Red Sea. Yet he hardened his heart and pursued the children of Israel only to get himself and all his men and chariots of horses drowned.

During Jesus’ days, Jesus fed the 5000 people, healed the sick, opened blind eyes, yet the Pharisees and the High Priest hardened their hearts and killed Jesus. Even Judas Iscariot who followed Jesus and saw all the miracles, could betray him.

God has not stopped doing miracles. Even until this day, we have experienced God’s miracles in our everyday lives. We prayed and God answered. We were in danger and He delivered. We were sick and we were healed. Even when something bad happened, we discovered years later, that God had a reason, it was to protect and deliver us.

Are you wondering…

Who were the sons of God mentioned in Genesis chapter 6?

There have been much debate about the “sons of God” mentioned in Genesis chapter 6. The following article has a good analysis and deduction. The sons of God refers to fallen angels.

How to become a believer?

You can be a believer simply by saying this prayer:

Dear God, thank you for so wonderfully make me and thank you for sending your Son, LORD Jesus to die for me so that I can have the blessed life that you intended for me — a life of leadership and fruitfulness. Now I believe and accept Jesus as my LORD and Saviour. I believe that from this time forth, I am a new creation, I am born again and I have the eternal life that Jesus came to give me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
