You Are A Child of God

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

John 1:12 (NLT)

Do Not Be Afraid

When I first read the story of Achan, I was really fearful of God. I find it difficult to accept such harsh punishments. For many years, whenever something bad happens, I would start to think if I had done something wrong. Some times I become bitter towards God. However, one day, I learned that God loves me so much that Jesus came to die for all my sins. Jesus has already paid the price of all my sins and because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, I am forever forgiven, forever righteous and I can come before God boldly to enjoy God’s love for me. I am now a child of God. During Achan’s time, Jesus had not come to die on the cross and the law requires that anyone who disobey be stone to death. However, after Jesus came to die for us, for anyone who has accepted Jesus, they have become a child of God. They are forever righteous. Here’s all the scriptures that say so:

God's Unfailing Love

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

(John 1:16-17, NLT)

God's Grace

God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.

(Romans 5:20, NLT)

Jesus' Righteousness

Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

(Romans 5:19, NLT)

God Loves You

God has to give the law first so that people understand what is right and wrong. However, God knows that no one succeed in keeping the law. Yet because God is righteous, the law has to be kept. Hence, Jesus came to die on our behalf. Why did He do that? To show us how much God, our Heavenly Father loves us. Jesus came to reveal God’s love for us. If you have not received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, all you need to do is say this simple prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus

Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank you for loving me and suffering for me. I receive you right now, into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. From this point onwards, I am born again, I am a child of God, I receive all the blessings that God, my Heavenly Father has prepared for me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
